Satellite Beach Soccer Club Game Cancellation
Procedures and Policy

In the event a scheduled game at Satellite Beach is cancelled, the following procedure should be followed:

The Satellite Beach Head Coach is responsible for immediately notifying at least one of the following contacts in order to cancel the referees. If sending an email or leaving a voicemail, please get confirmation that the message was received.

Scott Ouellette, Scheduler 321-777-8389  scott@satellitebeachsoccer.org
Justin Lauer, Referee Assignor 321-480-7093 refereejustin@yahoo.com

48 hours notice is required to notify SBSC home game refs.

For very short notice cancellations (same day or night before morning game), coaches should show up at the field and make payments to the referees.

Cancellation or rescheduling requires 7 days advance notice for game cancellations. 7 days advance notice is required for our club to avoid game rescheduling fees.

Need to cancel or reschedule a game?

Need to contact a coach from an opposing team?

SBSC coach contact info can be found here:
SAB Coaches List.

Coaches from other clubs should have their contact info listed on scoreline on the page with your game schedule.

1) Contact Scott or Justin A.S.A.P. so referees may be notified of cancellation.

2) Find an agreed upon time and place for the rescheduled game with the opposing coach. SBSC soccer fields will usually be available on Friday afternoons for makeup games. If you want to try and find a weekend makeup time slot here's how to search for an opening:

On the left side scroll down all the way to the bottom and you will see a link to Field Schedules:

Scroll down the next page until you see the link to our fields SBL for library fields or SEA for Seapark. You can see where there might be openings available for a makeup game. If you are able, please try to schedule your game to be close to another match so referees might be able to take on your game as a back to back game with their other games. Be sure to allow enough time between match start times: U-6 & U-8 need about an hour and 15 minutes between game starts. For U-10 games allow an hour and a half. For U-12 & U-14, allow 2 hours.

3) Contact Scott to schedule your referee for your makeup game. 7 day advance notice required. Your game schedule will be updated on scoreline with the new day and time.

Practice Days & Locations:

Each coach will be given one practice day and location in addition to the every other week DOC practice session listed on the practice page for a total of 2 soccer practices per week. Should a coach have a need to practice on another day, please contact another coach in your same age group and ask to switch. If you make a switch with a coach, please email us and let us know. Coaches will be provided with at least 1/2 of a practice field and the goal at one end.* Please be prepared to share a field. Many coaches have found it helpful to run 2/3 of their practice time on skills and fundamentals then scrimmage the other team that they share the field with for the final 15 or 20 minutes of practice. *U-6 & U-8 practices might include more than one team but there should be plenty of space outside of the two lined game fields as well as additional portable goals at the Seapark complex. See the diagram below and help yourself to the pinnies & cones in the Seapark storage room. Use the cones to mark off an area to practice in in the free areas outside of the lined game fields and the pinnies (lightweight colored vests) to divide up kids into colored teams for practices or to scrimmage other teams. There should be a ton of space at Seapark just be prepared to share half a game field for practices

Helpful Practice Hints:

#1 Keep it simple…The following scenario will be familiar to any coach who has trained soccer players under the age of 10: you carefully explain the practice plan that you have developed at home and the response is blank stares! This is a common problem and despite the careful preparation, coaches overestimate the players intellectual abilities or their attention span. Keep it simple! Use demonstrations along with short descriptions!

#2 Make it fun…Naturally, every coach would like his players to have fun at practice and to go home happy! At this age level, "playful" training is the best way to awaken and promote a players enthusiasm for the game. Rigid exercises intended to teach the basic elements of technique are quickly rejected by young players and should be avoided. Therefore, the second rule is simple….Make it fun!

#3 Keep things interesting…Another way to keep the practices fun is to let the kids play! In other words, play soccer! But the questions is how? At this level, letting two teams play against each other for an entire practice session would soon lead to crushing boredom. The less skilled players, in particular, will quickly turn their attention to other things. With short attention spans at this age, you must be creative and you must consider a variety of things to keep it interesting!

#4 Create opportunities to succeed…Whether a person enjoys an activity has a lot to do with whether they are successful at it! This is especially true with small children. At this age, the success of the team is irrelevant; individual success (measured by enjoyment) is what really counts. When kids describe what they experienced at soccer practice, their sentences almost always start with "I". When planning your practice sessions, keep in mind the fourth rule….give kids plenty of opportunities to succeed!
